LINEAR CONTROL THEORY AND MODEL PREDICTIVE CONTROL (MA5334)

Course description

Basics of mathematical control theory:
Controllability, observation, stability and optimal stabilization, linearization, linear systems with perturbation, Ljapunov function, asymptotic stability, control of nonlinear systems

Model predictive control (MPC):
Discrete time and sampled data systems, fundamentals of MPC, minimum-time MPC, infinite horizon MPC, stability and suboptimality with/without constraints, feasibility and robustness

After successful completion of the module, students are familiar with the fundamentals of mathematical control theory and have a detailed knowledge of model predictive control as an important field of control theory. They are able to apply this knowledge to the solution of typical control problems from science and engineering.
